The show starts off about a young rich girl from Montreal who is sent to live with her deceased mother's relatives on Prince Edward Island. After the first six seasons, Sara, leaves the show (she comes back on the final episode) and the show switches gears and focuses more on Sara's cousins, Felicity, Felix and Cecily.
The show takes place in the small town of Avonlea on Prince Edward Island.
The show is based on the novels by Lucy Maud Montgomery, the author of Anne of Green Gables and Emily of New Moon.
Road to Avonlea is a family program which originally aired on the Disney channel and Prarie Public Television.
